About
This course focuses on applying intentional, explicit, systematic, and sequential evidence-based instructional practices to support English Learners and students with reading difficulties, including dyslexia. Participants will develop strategies for oral language, phonemic awareness, phonics, word reading, morphology, spelling, reading fluency, vocabulary, and comprehension. Emphasis is placed on multisensory instruction, scaffolding, home-language strengths, differentiated support, purposeful reading and discussion, and corrective feedback. Participants will also learn to administer and document informal and formal assessments to monitor student progress and use data to address individual strengths and needs.
